STRG Presents New ESB-PV Series DC-DC Converters

November 28, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Small Technology Research Group (STRG, Taiwan) announced a new power version of its ESB Series (ESB-PV) of dc-dc converters, which deliver high current and efficiency in an industry-standard sized standard package. The ESB-PV enables communications and networking OEMs to minimize board space, reduce production costs, and support the on-going migration toward lower supply voltages for ICs and microprocessors.

The ESB-PV converters operate over an input-voltage range of 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc (48 V nominal) to provide a precisely regulated output as low as 1.8 V. The ESB-PV delivers a typical full-load efficiency of 89% at 3.3 Vdc. The ESB-PV module saves 20% broad space and maintains a low profile of just 0.46 in (11.7 mm). The ESB-PV modules are available in a broad range of output voltages: 5.0 V at 7.0 A, 3.3 V at 10 A, 2.5 V at 10 A and 1.8 V at 10 A. Each model is available in input PI-filter or input EMC-filter configurations.

The ESB-PV modules are capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C, and protect against abnormal inputs, outputs and temperatures. Priced at $29.40 in 1,000-unit quantities, samples are available now.
