Stegmann Introduces the New HiperFace Servo Motor Feedback System

January 07, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Stegmann Inc. (Dayton, OH) introduces the HiperFace compatible SHS170 servo motor feedback system. Featuring a thin 1.7" profile, this magnetic encoder has an extra large 50mm hollow-shaft bore that allows the encoder to be directly mounted to a large motor or load shafts.

A unique floating mount prevents excessive shaft loading and misalignment. Magnetic code wheel construction provides a high resistance to shock, vibration and environmental contamination common to industrial applications, in temperatures to 110 degrees C. Potential applications include elevator drives, spindle motors, motor feedback, printing presses and machine tools, among others.

The SHS170 provides 14-bit initial absolute value, and 512 sine/cosine periods per turn via line drivers. Resolutions of 512, 288 counts per turn are possible after a 12-bit A/D drive conversion.
