Sprague-Goodman Adds GLTZ Series to SURFCOIL Line

October 08, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Sprague-Goodman Electronics Inc. (Westbury, NY) has expanded its SURFCOIL® product line to a new series of extremely small surface-mount chip inductors. Designated the GLTZ Series, the epoxy-encapsulated inductors measure only 0.5mm x 0.25mm x 0.25mm (0201 size). The inductor is made by laser cutting a helix in copper deposited on an alumina core. The terminals are nickel plated with a solder coat.

There are 17 models in the GLTZ Series, with an inductance range of 1.0nH to 22nH. The standard tolerance on inductance is ±5 percent (±3nH for inductances less than 6.8nH). The GLTZ inductors offer high Q at microwave frequencies, and have high self-resonant frequencies (up to 20GHz).

The GLTZ inductors are priced at $0.092 each for 15,000 pieces, the quantity contained in one 18cm (7in) reel. Parts are also supplied bulk. Lead time for delivery is 10 weeks.
