According to reports from South American Business Information, the Brazilian government is looking at a likely energy crisis beginning in early June, 2001, onwards through the summer. The imminent possibility of black-outs has led to increased demand for solar energy-generating equipment in the area.
Tecno Sol, which produces equipment for water-heating, reported a 30-percent surge in sales over the last two months. Heliodinamica, based in Vargem Grande, is the only producer of solar-electric equipment in the country. The company is planning to launch a solar energy kit to boost sales.
