September 24, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

SOCOMEC SICON UPS (Cedex, France) a leading company in the production of dc/ac uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), industrial switches and protection systems, announced its new line of SHARYS industrial systems, which feature J-bus protocol and SMD technology, a high power density ratio, reduced consumption, plug-in connections and hot-swap capabilities, an "intelligent" forced ventilation system, and Intranet or Internet monitoring.

The system regulates fan speed in relation to the applied load so that fa operation problems in the individual units can be determined in advance. Dedicated alarms warn the user that the fan has nearly reached the end of its lifespan. The rectifiers and controllers are compatible with 19in

solutions, and "micro" and "mini" systems in the 19in rack format are also available for insertion into the various types of standard cabinets. The new power systems also include pre-settings for dc distribution with fuses, magneto-thermal switches, magneto-thermal switches with release indicators, battery LVDs and load LVDs.
