SL Power 40W External Power Supply Meets Newest Energy-Efficiency Standards

July 29, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

SL Power Electronics announced a new 40W external power supply family that meets both the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Level IV criteria and Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) requirements. The new single output Ault PW153KB series is well suited for a wide range of communications, computer peripheral and industrial applications, and is available in five different voltages ranging from 12 to 48V.

"EISA regulations, which stipulate that ac-dc single-output external power supplies 250W and under manufactured on or after July 1, 2008, meet higher energy-efficiency standards, impacts all companies selling products into the United States," said Greg Harris, Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, SL Power Electronics. "It is important for SL Power to provide our customers with power supplies that meet all current energy-efficiency standards."

The Ault PW153KB family meets UL60950-1, IEC/EN60950-1 and EMC: EN55022/55024/61000 safety standards. The series also features universal input of 100 to 240Vac, line frequency of 47-63 Hz and a non-vented, impact-resistant polycarbonate enclosure.

All PW153KB models can be modified to meet unique power or connectivity requirements and feature a regulated output with low ripple. The company states that it can also design a completely custom solution to meet specific OEM requirements and private-label marking needs.

The units are priced at under $13.33 in OEM quantities.
