Sipex Presents SP6651A Buck Regulator

October 29, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its new 800mA synchronous buck regulator, the SP6651A power-management IC, for lithium-ion-powered PDAs, DSCs and MP3 players. The SP6651A’s 98 percent efficiency ensures a longer battery operating life.

The SP6651A features a 20µA standby quiescent current, an ultra-low 80µA quiescent current in dropout, an adjustable output voltage that supports standard 1.5V and 1.75V processor core voltages and standard 3.3V system level voltages with a single IC, a programmable under-voltage lockout function (2.7V, 2.85V or 3.0V), a small 10-lead MSOP package, miniature external components (one 10µH coil and two 22µF capacitors), and temperature range operation from -40 to +85 degrees C.

The SP6651A is currently available, starting at $1.40 in 10,000-piece quantities.
