Silicon Power Technology, a Sino-foreign joint venture and technology incubator, and Silvaco Inc., a leading supplier of EDA software and design IP, announced their partnership that will support the growth of the next-generation of power semiconductor companies in China.

Silvaco points out that the power semiconductor sector is crucial for China's overall growth in new markets, such as electric cars and the continuing development of high-speed trains, subways, consumer electronics, and enterprise industrial electronics.

Silicon Power Technology, through its incubator program, offers a comprehensive platform for startup companies combining office space, management support, technology R&D support and fundraising. Located in the Tianfu Software Development Park in Chengdu, China, Silicon Power Technology claims to be the first Chinese incubator dedicated to serving startups in the power semiconductor industry.

In partnership with Silvaco, Silicon Power Technology and its portfolio companies will receive preferential access to Silvaco's tools and solutions for both device and process simulation of power semiconductors. Silicon Power Technology and its portfolio companies will also benefit as a result of having Silvaco's technical support team in the same office location.

"Silicon Power Technology's incubator in co-operation with Chengdu's University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) Power Integrated Technology Laboratory (PITEL) is forming an innovation cluster for power semiconductors, with both national and international recognition," stated Jesse Parker, Silicon Power Technology General Manager. "Silvaco's contribution of preferential access to its industry-leading tools and solutions for both device and process simulation of power semiconductors will be an essential ingredient to our business success."

"Silvaco is delighted to help new companies in Chengdu take flight and build successful semiconductors businesses in this expanding market," said ManGyu Hwang, General Manager APAC, Silvaco.

"Our new partnership is an excellent opportunity for Silvaco," said Sharon Fang, GM of Silvaco China. "With Silicon Power Technology, we will be able to assist the most innovative power semiconductor companies in China and create new business relationships. Silvaco has established itself as the leading provider of tools and solutions for the development and design of power electronics. Our support will be an essential ingredient to the region's successful expansion in the power sector. This is a new era for Silvaco and the Chinese semiconductor industry."

Silicon Power Technology says it welcomes promising startup and early-stage teams and companies to apply for admittance to its incubator.
