Shiny Space Debuts SSE SX1 Film Capacitors

October 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Shiny Space Ent. Co. Ltd. (Taiwan) announced its new SSE SX1 metallized polypropylene film capacitors, which are non-inductively wound devices that are designed for Class X1 interference suppression across-the-line.

The capacitors withstand over-voltage stress and exhibit good self-healing properties. Target applications include in-line bypass, antenna coupling, across-the-line and spark-killer circuits, switching power supplies, office equipment, household appliances, and thyristor and triac appliances.

The rated voltage is at 250V/275V, 300Vac (50Hz to 60Hz). Exhibited capacitance values range from 4.7nF to 10µF, with a tolerance of ±5 percent, ±10 percent or ±20 percent.

The dielectric withstand voltage is rated at 1.2kVac (60Hz, 1 second) or 2.2kVdc (1 second) between terminals, and 2.2kVac (60Hz, 1 minute) between terminals and the case. Specified at 20 degrees C, the dissipation factor is 0.1 percent (maximum) at 1kHz and 0.3 percent (maximum) at 10kHz.

The devices are encapsulated in UL 94V-0-rated flame-retardant plastic cases and are epoxy-resin sealed. They meet EN132 5400-1994/ICE384-14 2nd edition, A1-1995, UL 1414 and UL 1283 standards.
