Smart Fuel Cell GmbH (SFC, Munich, Germany) announced the launch of its SFC 25.2500 R portable, stand-alone, power supply powered by an exchangeable methanol cartridge. The system is already used by a large variety of business users in fields like traffic systems, environmental sensors, camping and outdoor equipment, and is now offered commercially to other industrial customers.
The SFC 25.2500 R is equipped with an exchangeable 2.5l methanol cartridge which yields 2,500Wh of electrical energy. The power output is from 25W continuous up to 80W peak. The system operates in a wide temperature range and is lighter and more compact than lead-acid batteries, more reliable than photovoltaic systems or wind generators, and silent and pollution-free compared to diesel generators, according to the company.
