Semtech Releases New SC1543 Dual 3.3V Smart Power Switch
Semtech Corp. (Newbury Park, CA) has made available the SC1543 Dual 3.3V Smart Power Switch. The SC1543 automatically switches to a secondary supply input, should the primary input be removed. Semtech claims this is a design suited for Mini PCI card designs intended for use in notebook computers, docking stations, set-top boxes and Internet appliances.
The SC1543 can source up to 400mA from the primary input supply, within the 375mA Mini PCI specification requirement, and sources up to 200mA from the secondary unit as required for operation in a D3 cold state with power-management support enabled.
Other features include low Rds(on) power switches, shut-down control, low-profile (MSOP-8) packaging, over-temperature protection and industrial temperature ratings. A typical application requires one 1uF capacitor per input and a single 10uF capacitor on the output.
Evaluation samples of the SC1543 in MSOP-8 packaging are available now, with volume production scheduled for September 2000. Pricing is $1.43 each in quantities of 1,000.
