Semtech Intros SC1534 3.3V LDO Voltage Regulator

March 07, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Semtech Corp. (Newbury Park, CA) introduced the SC1534, claimed to be the industry's first 3.3V low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator that allows network interface card (NIC) designers to take full advantage of maximum PCI power specifications and Intel's Instantly Available PC (IAPC) application. The new SmartLDO meets the PCI-defined maximum 375mA load capability and is said to offer trouble-free sleep-mode/wake-up power transitions for the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) standards. Designed for NIC, PCI and CompactPCI card manufacturers, the SC1534 accommodates 5V and 3.3V inputs, offering a single solution for interface cards targeted at legacy hardware and emerging systems. Housed in a 5-lead TO-263 surface-mount package, the SC1534 SmartLDO is priced at $1.95 each in 10,000-piece quantities.
