Semtech Announces New STF201 and STF202 USB TVS Devices

April 02, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Semtech Corp. (Newbury Park, CA) announced transient-voltage suppression (TVS) devices designed specifically to protect USB hubs. The STF201 and STF202 are easily implemented solutions designed to meet the termination and EMI/RFI filter requirements of the USB specification, revision 1.1. They also provide ESD protection to IEC 6100-4-2, Level 4.

The STF201 and STF202 integrate all of the components necessary for line termination, bi-directional EMI filtering, and ESD protection on downstream (STF201) or upstream (STF202) ports. The tiny SOT-23 package sizes and integrated features of the STF201 and STF202, minimize required board space, making them ideal for use in portable devices, USB hubs, computers and peripherals.

Samples of the STF201 and STF202 TVS arrays are available now with volume production beginning in April 2000. The devices are priced at $0.51 in quantities of 1,000, and are available in a SOT-23 six-lead package.
