Seiko Launches S-818 Series of LDO Voltage Regulators

May 22, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Seiko Instruments (Torrance, CA) introduced the new S-818 Series of extremely low quiescent-current LDO voltage regulators. Packaged in the miniature SOT-23-5 or SOT-89-5 casings, the S-818 is a positive LDO voltage regulator developed utilizing CMOS technology. The S-818 can be used in applications such as cellular phones, PDAs, MP3 players, notebook PCs, handheld games, home security, digital cameras and portable audio devices.

The S-818 features a quiescent current of typically 100nA, 500nA maximum, with the power off and typically 30µA, 40µA maximum, during operation. Additional features include a typical LDO voltage of 170mV. The series has a high output current of 200mA for the 3V version and 300mA for the 5V version. Its output voltage ranges from 2 to 6V, and it has a built-in power-off circuit. The S-818 Series also has a built-in low on-resistance transistor output current.

Pricing for the S-818 Series begins at $0.45 each in quantities of 3,000 for the SOT-23-5 packaging and $0.45 each in quantities of 1,000 for the SOT-89-5 packaging.
