December 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Seiko Instruments Inc. (Torrance, CA) introduced the S-1112/1122 Series of high ripple rejection, low dropout voltage regulators in a small five-pin SOT-23-5 package, which are suitable for battery-powered devices, personal communication devices, home electric/electronic appliances and cellular phones.

The new regulators feature an output voltage of 1.5V to 5.5V, selectable in 0.1V steps; a high-accuracy output voltage of ±1.0 percent; a low dropout voltage of 190mV typical (3.0V output product, Iout = 100mA); a low current consumption during operation of 50µA typical, 90µA maximum; a low current consumption during shutdown of 0.1µA typical, 1.0µA maximum; a high peak current capability of 150mA; a built-in on/off circuit; a low ESR capacitor of 0.47µF; a high ripple rejection of 80dB, typical, at 1.0kHz; and a built-in, over-current protector.
