SEI Electronics Debuts SV Series Varistors

May 28, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

SEI Electronics Inc. (Raleigh, NC) introduced its new SV Series of radial-leaded, metal-oxide varistors (MOVs) that provide a broad range of high-current and high-energy TVS devices in smaller physical sizes than are available in standard industry disc varistor products. Typical applications include ac power supplies, UPS systems, industrial motor controls, TVSS equipment for distribution panels, and a variety of other industrial products requiring transient voltage protection.

The standard SV Series devices are available in 5mm, 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, 20mm and 23mm sizes with a wide range of surge-current and energy-absorption capabilities. The ac operating voltages cover 60V through 550V, although higher voltages are available upon request. The SV 130V to 550V/20mm to 23mm devices are UL1449 and CSA 22.2 certified with SV 60V to 550V/5mm to 14mm and SV 60V to 115V/20mm certifications pending. The SV Series features high-current and energy-handling ratings and low clamping voltages over a continuous operating temperature up to +85°C.

Typical volume pricing for the SV Series ranges from $0.095 for 150V/5mm to $0.30 for 320V/20mm devices. Lead times are stock to eight weeks.
