Schneider Electric Intros SQUARE D MOTORPACT

October 29, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Schneider Electric (Paris, France) introduced the new SQUARE D® MOTORPACT, a new medium-voltage motor controller that can execute 5,000 operations without maintenance, providing facility managers and consultants with reliability, safety and ease of use in commercial facilities. The new motor controller is suitable for mission-critical applications in water/wastewater processing, data management, health care and power generation facilities.

The SQUARE D MOTORPACT motor controller reduces installation, maintenance and life cycle costs, and requires less floor space. Its compact footprint makes it suitable for retrofit applications as well as new construction. The MOTORPACT motor controller features an optional solid-state, soft-start, voltage ramping that helps increase uptime, and with its main bus bar mounted directly onto the isolation switch, the MOTORPACT has fewer bolted connections – with no riser bus bar – and fewer parts that require maintenance.

The new motor controller features infrared scanning ports for scanning bus bar connections and cable terminations. The ports allow a maintenance technician to locate and troubleshoot heating problems caused by loose connections. The MOTORPACT motor controller can be shipped in five-bay shipping splits and is set up for easy electrical testing.
