May 06, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

SatCon Technology Corp. (Cambridge, MA) announced today that it has been collaborating with Powercell Corp. (Burlington, MA) to qualify SatCon's power conversion electronics and controls for potential use in Powercell's PowerBlock family of electric power reliability and power quality products. SatCon has been working with Powercell to develop proprietary assemblies and control software, which are now being tested in Powercell's PowerBlock systems.

“We have been working closely with Powercell for some time and we're pleased that our efforts have resulted in electronics solutions that are working well for Powercell," said David Eisenhaure, SatCon's president and CEO. “We have been developing these proprietary assemblies for PowerCell's PowerBlock system, based on SatCon's power conversion and control technologies, that are designed to address the growing market for high-reliability, high-quality power. There is a need for highly reliable power delivery systems today and we have been making product development investments in products that seek to meet that demand. We've designed our products to work with any kind of power source, from batteries to flywheels to turbines and fuel cells, and we can support those systems now."
