Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. (SEM, South Korea) released what its claims is the world's smallest multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). The capacitor is one-third the size of the 0201 MLCC and takes up one-fifteenth the space of a 0402 MLCC. Designed to suit small hand-held products such as cellular phones, IMT 2000 handsets and personal digital assistants, the 01005-size product measures 0.4mm x 0.2mm and weighs 90µg.
