Saelig Debuts K2 RS232-to-RS422/485 Converters

August 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Saelig Co. Inc. (Victor, NY) announced its new K2 cost-effective, port-powered RS232-to-RS422/485 converters with a built-in DIL switch.

The switch positions allow configuration of the K2 as RS232-to-RS422 or RS232-to-RS485, either two- or four-wire, and with or without fixed drivers. External power is not required because the K2 takes its current (less than 2mA) from the RS232's RTS line.

The K2-ADE adds a precision timing circuit that enables and disables the output driver according to the presence of RS232 data. The DIL switches offer autodriver-enable baud-rate compatibility from 1,200kbaud to 115kbaud. Built into a shell the size of a DB-9 to DB-9 adaptor, the K2 offers 400W surge protection.
