Rockwell Technologies Sues JDS Uniphase

July 18, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Rockwell Technologies LLC (Thousand Oaks, CA) has sued JDS Uniphase Corp. for alleged infringement of a Rockwell process patent for making semiconductors, according to papers filed late Monday in the US District Court in Delaware. A patent issued in 1983 and relating to Metal Organic Vapor Deposition (MOCVD), is at issue. In court papers, Rockwell Technologies said it believes JDS infringed the patent by allegedly using its MOCVD process to make MOCVD wafers and import them for sale into the US while the patent was in effect. Rockwell seeks a jury trial on its claims for damages.
