Ricoh Intros Power-Supply Chip That Combines 3 Voltage-Control ICs

January 03, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Ricoh Co. (Japan) has reportedly developed a power-supply chip that combines three voltage-control ICs used to supply constant voltage to the internal circuitry of electronic devices. The device is claimed to take up 52 percent less mounting space than three separate voltage-control chips, suiting it for devices such as portable phones and PDAs.

The component is housed in an SSOP-8 package measuring 4mm x 2.9mm, and offers a choice of three output voltages, ranging from 2V to 5V. Ricoh has reportedly begun production of 2 million chips per month.
