RF Solutions Debuts New P2020 Power Amplifier

September 09, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

RF Solutions Inc. (Norcross, GA) debuted the new P2020 power amplifier, which operates from a single 3.3V power supply, provides a power gain of 30dB, and is suitable for use in IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g WLAN products. In the 802.11b mode, the device meets all the adjacent channel, power ratio requirements at an output power of 23dBm. When used in the 802.11g mode at a data rate of 54Mbps, the devices have an output power of 20dBm, an error-vector magnitude of <4 percent, and consume 140mA.

The amplifier is housed in a 3mm x 3mm package and features an on-chip, self-regulating, dynamic power control, eliminating the need for external control circuitry to regulate current consumption. The P2020 is also equipped with a sleep-mode feature limiting the current consumption to <1mA when not in use.
