RF Connectors Intros RFS-2093 Surge Protector

August 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

RF Connectors (San Diego, CA) introduced its new RFS-2093 50ohm, in-line surge protector, which features N female interfaces and is designed for use with frequencies from 0Hz to 6GHz. The connector protects small-to-medium power radios, WLLs, WLANs and cellular base stations from lightning strikes.

Compliant with IECC and IEEE standards, the device has an aluminum die-cast, nickel-plated body with a fast-action gas tube arrestor. One end features a standard MIL-C-71A N female interface, while the other end is an N female bulkhead. The gas tube arrestor has a dc breakdown voltage of 90V, a shockwave breakdown voltage of 5kV/µs of 1kV, and can handle a maximum shockwave current of 5kA from 8µs to 20µs. The ac breakdown current is 25A, while the insulation resistance is 10 gigaohms.
