GAIA Converter has released a new family of quarter brick dc-dc converters with 200W power dedicated to high-reliability applications. Referenced as MGDM-205, the family has a wide input voltage range of 9Vdc to 45Vdc, making them suitable for military, aerospace, and airborne applications where high power density is critical.
The first model released in the MGDM-205 family is a single output model offering 12V, 16.65A output. With 92% efficiency in the standard quarter-brick footprint of 57.9mm x 36.8mm x 12.9mm, Gaia says that this product is one of the top products in this category.
A complete suite of protection functions are incorporated including under-voltage lockout, over-voltage protection, current limitation, over-temperature protection, and permanent short circuit proofing.
They can be operated at zero load, and they employ soft start to eliminate inrush current during startup.
The MGDM-205 also includes trim, synchronization, and sense functions. The modules operate over a large temperature range from -40°C up to +105°C case temperature (with optional -55°C).
