PV Powered Ships Efficient Inverters

January 03, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

The StarInverter PVP5200 (240 volt) and the StarInverter PVP4600 (208 volt) grid-tie solar inverters from PV Powered LLC of Bend, Oregon are claimed to offer the highest efficiency levels available from any inverter in the U.S. market. Independently tested by UL to the UL 1741 standard, with verified performance by CSA International, PV Powered's CEC weighted efficiency (DC to AC) was measured at 96% for the PVP5200 and 95.5% for the PVP4600.

"A tremendous amount of effort went into developing this inverter, which we expect will become our top seller within a few months" states Bill Taylor, president of PV Powered. "We've leveraged the latest technologies, topologies, and algorithms to develop the most advanced grid-tied inverter on the market today. After all, we are the only company that is completely focused on the grid-connected inverter market!"

The PVP5200 is well positioned for installations that have traditionally required multiple inverters or those used on today's larger homes with higher levels of electricity usage. For California residents, the PVP5200 and PVP4600 will generate an average rebate that is $200 higher than competing inverter models, according to the company.

All PV Powered inverters are backed by a standard 10-year warranty, twice as long as other inverters in the industry. "When your inverter design does not use any cooling fans and you have approximately 1/3 the number of internal components, you can offer a superior warranty to the consumer," said Brian Dupin, director of sales.
