PV Modules reach 20.5% Efficiency

April 27, 2015 by Jeff Shepard

Wuxi Suntech Power Co. Ltd. announced today the introduction of its new HyPro product line. The average mass production cell efficiency of HyPro can reach up to 20.5% with the PERC technology. Suntech has made an initial shipment of 236kW of the HyPro module in March. The module will be available globally this July, for both commercial and residential projects. At peak performance, the HyPro 60-cell module can produce an optimal 290W, whereas the HyPro 72-cell module can produce up to 345W.

"We're very excited to add the HyPro to our portfolio of high efficiency PV modules. This four busbar module recently attained the VDE QT (Quality Tested) certification," said Xiong Haibo, president of Suntech. "This PV technology is part of Suntech's new generation of PV products that are cost efficient and energy efficient. The module sustains a higher power output of 200W/m2 compared to conventional modules in weak lighting conditions. We are proud to begin offering these enhanced modules to our customers around the world."

As a four busbar module design, the HyPro has a lower probability of micro-cracks and hotspots, making the modules less susceptible to malfunctions that lead to significant power degradation. The HyPro model caters to markets that require high efficiency and durability under dynamic solar conditions such as the UK and Japan.
