Pulse Engineering Debuts PB0025/26/27 Transformers

August 12, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse Engineering Inc. (Singapore) debuted the new PB0025, PB0026 and PB0027 surface-mount, current-sense transformers for the dc/dc market. Rated for currents up to 35A, the transformers have three common turn ratios of 1:50, 1:100 and 1:200, with inductance values of 80mH, 180mH and 320mH, respectively.

The high-current transformers have a maximum height of 10mm, making them suitable for use in high-density, low-profile dc/dc converter applications. They have a flat-top design that allows them to be used in pick-and-place applications.

The devices can develop a relatively accurate control and/or indicating signal, without imposing a high resistance to the current. Applications range from industrial controls and medical instruments to RAID arrays and high-performance network servers. Functions include feedback control, overload sensing, load-drop or shutdown detection. They are specifically designed to detect ac current changes and supply an output for control circuitry.

The dc/dc transformers are available in 100-unit trays and 300-unit tape-and-reels. Pricing in volumes of 100,000 is $0.98 each.
