Pulse Announces PF0082/PF0091 Transformers

September 08, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse Engineering Inc. (San Diego, CA) announced a new transformer package that helps to reduce the long design cycles and high costs associated with designing small, portable power supplies. The Pulse PF0082 (with an auxiliary winding) and PF0091 (without auxiliary winding) feature a PQ26/25 platform, which enables a compact switch-mode power transformer design in the 50W range.

Applications include low-power, universal off-line power supplies for portable equipment such as digital cameras, external computer peripherals, power tools, and standby power supplies in PCs and audio/video equipment.

The operating range is from -20 to +85 degrees C. The transformer insulation system provides a minimum of 1,500Vrms electrical isolation while meeting UL 94V-0 flammability requirements. The PF0082 is designed with a primary-to-secondary turns ratio of 1:0.166 and an auxiliary winding with a 1:0.15 turns ratio.

Available in tray packaging, the transformers are priced at $1.60 for 10,000 pieces.
