Pulizzi Engineering Ships TPC2562 AC Power-Distribution Unit

April 09, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Pulizzi Engineering Inc. (Santa Ana, CA) is now shipping its patented TPC2562, the first ac power-distribution unit that combines true redundant input, under-voltage protection and ultra-fast switching. This unit was designed for critical systems that require redundant ac sources to protect against a power failure or severe brown-out condition. According to Pulizzi, testing has consistently produced an 18ms to +/-5ms source-to-source transfer time.

Each of the two IEC60320 C20 power inlets has integrated EMI/RFI protection inline fusing and surge protection. The inputs are monitored by Pulizzi's patented circuitry, which removes either source if an under-voltage condition or loss of power occurs. The TPC2562 is 1U (1.75") high and 9.5" deep. The unit is 19" rack mount with detachable brackets that allow for front, rear or recessed mounting. The front panel contains a lighted on/off circuit breaker and power indicator LEDs that indicate low voltage or Ppwer-good for each source.

In single-piece quantities, these ac power-distribution units cost $700 each.
