PSi Technologies Signs Agreement with APT

October 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

PSi Technologies Holdings Inc. (Manila, Philippines) announced the signing of a long-term assembly and test service agreement with Advanced Power Technology Inc. (APT, Bend, OR).

Under the agreement, PSI will provide APT with outsourced assembly and test services primarily for the latter's power MOSFETs, FREDs, and IGBTs, which go into power-conversion applications such as motor controllers and power supplies.

PSI Chairman and CEO Arthur J. Young, Jr. stated, "We are impressed with their very focused business model, which is similar to our own, and for the kind of technology that they are bringing to the market. We believe that they will be the primary beneficiary of the increasing demand for more sophisticated forms of electrical power, and the more efficient use of electricity. In addition, the general trend in power conversion towards higher efficiencies, higher power densities, and higher frequencies makes APT's products ideal for many new applications."
