PREMO Unveils Hall Effect Sensors with Primary Integrated Winding

October 02, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Premo introduced a new series of Hall Effect sensors called the SY series. The new product has been designed for a double supply voltage of ±12 to ±18Vdc. The SY family is a closed loop technology component in a very small package for THT mounting. Primary winding is already integrated, which allows the measurement of dc, ac and pulse currents on printed circuit boards.

A key characteristic of this series is that it has a high isolation voltage of 3kV. The series has been designed for nominal currents of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 50A. The output signal is centered at 0V with an output voltage of ±4V allowing the detection of currents up to 3 times nominal value. It also provides a linearity <0.1% with a ±0.7% accuracy levels. Bandwidth is up to 150 kHz with a response time below 1µs. Offset drift versus temperature is as low as 0.5mV/°C.

The current sensor is specially designed to meet the highest safety requirements and is UL marked (USA and Canada).

The series is fully compliant to the following industrial standards: isolated plastic case recognized according to UL94-V0; EN 60947-1:2004; EN 60950-1:2001; EN 50178:1998; UL 508; and CSA C22.2 No. 14-10.
