May 28, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Powerex Inc. (Youngwood, PA) announced a new POW-R-BLOK, designated as CD6, designed for use in applications requiring rectification, half-control or full control. Isolated for easy mounting with other components on a common heatsink, the CD6 has been tested and recognized by Underwriters Laboratories.

Powerex's latest product is rated at 800V to 2,000V, and 150A and 160A. The new modules are manufactured with DBC construction, allowing for high durability and reliability, while providing a cost-effective solution in an industry-standard package. The use of glass-passivated die improves reliability at high-temperature reverse bias and offers moisture-resistant characteristics to the device. It is available at $56 each in sample quantities from stock to eight weeks.
