Powercube Intros MT Series of High-Density DC/DC Converters

August 22, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Powercube (Chatsworth, CA) announced that its MT Series of high-density dc/dc converters can now accommodate 12V inputs for use in the battery power systems architectures becoming popular in portable equipment. The new 12V-input devices are available in metal-cased, full-brick 150W, 100W and 50W versions, which are claimed to be pin-for-pin and mounting compatible with Lucent FC and FW products. The MT Series converters are claimed to achieve operating efficiencies as high as 90 percent with total isolation of input, output and baseplate. The converters are available with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24 and 28Vdc. Output voltages can be trimmed using an integral trim pin from +10 to -35 percent, and output ripple is typically less than 1 percent on all units. Pricing for 50W, 12V-input MT Series converters with UL, CSA and VDE approval starts at $127 in quantities of 100.
