Power-One Releases New FXC/FXP Series of Power Supplies

September 28, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) is releasing the FXC/FXP Series of stand-alone or rack-mounted power systems, which provide ac front-end capability to telecom, data communications and other distributed-power designs. Both the FXC and FXP systems may be paralleled up to 180kW of output power. However, the FXC family is intended for chassis-mounted installations with bolted connections and the FXP family is hot-pluggable and includes paralleling (OR-ing) diodes.

The FXP family of power supplies may be plugged into or removed from an operating system when used in redundant power configurations. The power supplies are intended to provide protection against input-voltage transients. Access to interfaces for remote sensing, remote-voltage adjust, current sharing and monitoring, power supply status, bias voltage and inhibit, as well as power connection is through a connecter at the rear of the supply. Alarm, monitoring and control signals are floating from the main output and can be referenced to the positive or negative output or sense line of the power supply. The output is floating with respect to the chassis and may be used as a positive or negative polarity supply.

The FXC/FXP Series meet international safety requirements and are CE marked to the low-voltage directive. Features include single- and three-phase ac inputs, availability in 3U and 5U heights, single-phase PFC, which meets EN61000-3-2, single-wire current share, over-temperature, overload and over-voltage protection, as well as current-share control for up to 30 units.
