Power-One Launches New NET1-4130 AC/DC Power Supply
Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) introduced the NET1-4130, the first ac/dc power supply of their new NET1 Series featuring efficient dual geometric edge (EDGE) technology. The EDGE technology is claimed to increase the ability of next-generation systems to deliver greater output currents to Internet infrastructure and communications equipment. With EDGE technology, the NET1 Series is capable of providing output currents exceeding 100A.
The new ac/dc power supply is a 240W, quad-output device with rated outputs of 1.8V at 50A, 3.3V at 50A, 5V at 5A and 12V at 4A. The NET1-4130 product provides current share and remote sense on all four outputs to facilitate redundant and N+1 applications.
The backbone of the EDGE technology, which underlies the new ac/dc power supply, is an interleaved, multiple-channel forward converter utilizing transitional resonant-switching techniques and controlled by leading- and trailing-edge pulsewidth modulation. Coupled with self-driven, active synchronous rectifiers, Power-One claims that this results in highly efficient power conversion and, therefore, lower heat, better reliability and significant size reduction.
The NET1 provides over 100A of output current in dimensions of 7.00" x 4.50" x 1.35". The device fits the industry-standard 1U size. Additional NET1-4130 features include a newly patented, multifunctional output terminal for handling high-output currents. The output terminal allows connection to No. eight ring lugs, 0.25" quick disconnects, cable connectors and PCB-mounted connectors. The unit's active PFC complies with the requirements of European line harmonics standard EN61000-3-2. Over-temperature shutdown, overload and over-voltage protection are provided along with power-fail and global output-good signals.
The NET1-4130 is recognized to UL60950, certified to CSA C22.2 No. 234/950 and TUV licensed to EN60950. Onboard EMI filtering provides compliance to FCC CFR Title 47, Part 15, and EN55022/CISPR 22, Level B.
