November 02, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Power Measurement Ltd. (Victoria, BC) announced the new 7350 ION three-phase digital power meter. Combining basic sag/swell detection, waveform recording and harmonics with on-board data logging and automatic modem dial-out, the 7350 ION offers cost-effective power monitoring and analysis in a compact, easy-to-use package.

The 7350 ION extends the company's line of low-cost 7300 Series ION meters by offering enhanced power-quality features, a harmonics histogram display, increased data-logging capacity and the ability to issue an alarm signal via an onboard modem.

Suitable for industrial, commercial and institutional applications, the 7350 ION meter can simplify tenant sub-billing, budgetary-cost allocation, feeder monitoring and outage-detection tasks. According to Power Measurement, utilities, power marketers and energy services companies will also find the meter to be a cost-effective choice for substation automation, or for metering at the feeder or tool level.

Communications alternatives include standard RS-485 and optical ports, an optional internal modem, and an optional Ethernet port. Both the internal modem and Ethernet options include the company's "gateway" feature that enables a single 7350 ION meter to provide network access for up to 31 additional meters. The meter supports DNP v.3.00, Modbus and ION protocols for smooth integration into other energy management or automation systems.
