Potrans Unveils New 5W Switching Power Supplies

August 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Potrans Electrical Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced a newly developed series of 5W universal power supplies that are small enough to fit in any pocket size.

The new unit delivers an output rating of 5W from a package measuring 1.68in x 2in x 1in, only half the size of a credit card, and that weighs less than 3oz. The small, light-weight features make it an ideal source for applications where small size and cost-effectiveness are critical, such as PDAs, MP3 players, digital cameras, portable data storage devices, etc.

The small 5W series come with short-circuit protection. The leakage current is less than 0.25mA at 240Vac 50Hz. The adapter meets FCC Part 15 Class B, CISPR 22 Class B industry standards, and is available with output voltages of 5V, 6V, 9V, 12V and 15V, with a universal 90 Vac to 264Vac, 47Hz to 63Hz input.
