October 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Potrans Electrical Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced its new universal UP018X Series 18W power supply. The desktop style power supply represents a large growth area, especially for telecommunication applications, according to Potrans.

The unit operates from a 90Vac to 254Vac input and has two configurations: IEC320-C14 (grounded) and IEEC320-C8 (non-grounded). Measuring 3.66in x 2.24in x 1.33in, the UP018X Series helps engineers save space. The lightweight design is also ideally suited for wireless and modem products.

The CE-compliant UP018X Series also has UL/cUL, GS and CSA safety approvals to help reduce product design-to-production cycle time. The power supply has a calculated MTBF of greater than 50,000 hours, and can be burned in for four hours under nominal input and full-rated load at an ambient temperature of 40 degrees C.

The UP018X Series is available in 3.3V, 5V, 6.5V, 7.5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V and 24V output models, and is competitively priced under $9 per 1,000-piece lot.
