Positronic Introduces High Current Density Modular Power Connector

September 27, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Positronic Industries announced the latest addition to its power connector line – the Scorpion series. The product’s "next generation" features are said to provide solutions for today’s power interface applications. In addition, the Scorpion’s modular tooling allows for quick turnaround of an infinite variety of customer-specified contact variants.

Customers can configure a power connector for their individual requirements from a wide array of "modules". The Scorpion’s unique modular tooling provides multiple keying options, yet still provides one piece insulator for use in the finished connector.

Power options include 60A size 8, 40A size 12, and 30A size 16 contacts, with contact resistance values as low as 0.001Ω. Size 22 signal contacts are also available. Blank module options allow the user to space power and signal contacts to meet creepage and clearance values required for specific applications. Contact terminations include board-to-board, board-to-cable, cable-to-cable, and panel mount options.

A wide variety of accessories is available, including ventilation slots in the connector housing, integral blind mate system, integral locking system, float mounts, and panel mount clips.
