Polytron Devices Adds SMI.0/SMI.8 Series

November 01, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Polytron Devices Inc. (Paterson, NJ) has added a complete series of surface-mount dc/dc converters, available in 1.0W and 1.8W packages, to their line. This series, designated SMI.0 and SMI.8, is housed in a 1.0" x 0.35" x 0.37" package. The company claims that it is ideal for all I/O board-system and sub-system distributed-power configurations where low-voltage semiconductors are involved. These converters are encapsulated and operate without derating or heatsinking over their full specified temperature range.

The new series is available with input voltage ranges of 5Vdc and 12Vdc, and output voltages of 5Vdc, 12Vdc and 15Vdc. Other features include an isolation voltage of 500Vdc and a typical efficiency of 75 percent.

The units are designed for a variety of applications, including portable test equipment, telecommunications, local power networks, process control and instrumentation. All units are fully burned-in under full-load, hi-pot tested and electrically tested prior to shipment.

This series is priced at $9.95 in 1,000-piece quantities, with an average lead time of five weeks.
