PolyStor Launches New PSC340848-1350 Lithium-Ion Battery

November 06, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

PolyStor Corp. (Livermore, CA) has launched a new 8mm prismatic lithium-ion battery, the PSC340848-1350. The new battery achieves a 1350mAh capacity in a package that is 34mm wide, 48mm long and 8mm thick. The PSC340848-1350 has an energy density of 360W hours per liter, which was achieved by using PolyStor's lithium-nickel cobalt-oxide cathode.

PolyStor maintains that the PSC340848-1350 is designed for use in GSM and CDMA cellular phone applications, due to its low impedance. The combination of higher capacity and low impedance, they claim, will result in longer usage time for consumers. The PSC340848-1350 was designed in response to consumer needs for cellular devices; however, the benefit of longer usage time is applicable to all portable applications.

Production quantities of the PSC340848-1350 are now available.
