January 10, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Oriental Motor USA Corp. (Torrance, CA) announced the KHA Series of gearheads for use with Oriental Motor ac motors, providing, the company claimed, up to 1.5 times more torque than standard gearheads. KHA gearheads are designed for use with all Oriental Motor 60W and 90W ac motors with a frame size of 3.54 inches square, including induction, reversible, electromagnetic brake and speed control motors. Eight gear ratios are available, ranging from 50:1 to 180:1.

The KHA Series of ac gearheads employs a helical drive method. The input and output stages of the gearhead utilize ball bearings. The gearhead itself includes a three-quarter-inch shaft and a keyway to accommodate the permissible output torque.
