OPTI-UPS Corp. Intros PowerPS-RM 1100/1440 Rackmount UPSs

OPTI-UPS Corp. (Brea, CA) announced it is shipping its first rackmount uninterruptible power systems. The PowerPS-RM 1100/1440 Rackmount units are intended for LAN and WAN network environments. The UPSs feature Internet modem, outlet control, 10/100 Base-T surge protection and load shedding to extend runtime to protect server environments from damaging power events. The units also feature true sine-wave output voltage for sensitive systems and hot swappable batteries which eliminate the need to shut down systems while servicing the UPS.The 1100 and 1440 units both include OPTI-SAFE+ Power Management Suite software, which works in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Novell, DOS and OS/2 environments. The software has also received NetWare 5 certification by Novell DeveloperNet Labs. The suite can e-mail and page appropriate persons in the event of a power failure, surges or spikes and be controlled/monitored over the Internet. According to OPTI-UPS, all of the units and software are Y2K-compliant and offer an optional USB adapter. Suggested retail price for the units is under $700.
