ON Semiconductor Corp. (Phoenix, AZ) introduced its NCP1030 and NCP1031 miniature, high-voltage, monolithic switching regulators that feature both a power switch and a start-up circuit. The NCP103x family simplifies the generation of low-power and secondary-side bias supply voltages that are often required by dc-dc converters and/or 48 V telecom systems by mitigating space and component-selection issues. The devices are suitable for 42 V automotive systems and Power-over-Ethernet devices such as IP phones and wireless access points.
The NCP1030 and NCP1031 are integrated solutions that combine a pulse-width modulated controller, a high-voltage startup circuit, a high-voltage power switch, and house-keeping and protection functions into a space-saving SO8 or Micro8 package. The NCP1030 in a Micro8 package is priced at $1 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. The NCP1031 in an SO8 package is priced at $1.15 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
