May 31, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Northwest Power Integrations Inc. (NPI, Milwaukie, OR), a subsidiary of Vicor Corp. (Andover, MA), debuted its new RackGuard RG1202, a 600 W dual-input ac-dc and dc-dc rack-mounted power supply that is specifically engineered for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems — typically used in monitoring and managing power lines.

The RackGuard ac and dc inputs provide redundant input operation. The ac input is 115 Vac/230 Vac autoranging, 50 Hz to 60 Hz. There are two dc input options of 48 V (38 V to 72 V) or 150 V (105 V to 200 V). Consisting of two configurable and independent outputs of 400 W and 200 W, the supply delivers a full-load output power of 600 W. This convection cooled, rack-mount power supply measures 17 in x 9.57 in x 4.87 in.

A fully configured unit is priced at approximately $2,900 in small quantities, and is available six weeks ARO.
