NexTek Inc. Power Surge Arrestors for Telecommunications Applications

September 10, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

NexTek, Inc. has introduced a series of coaxial dc pass SurgeGuard power surge arrestors for telecommunications applications with 7/16 DIN connectors. The PGT 7F series is claimed to offer excellent RF performance characteristics, provide over fifty times the industry-standard life expectancy when exposed to a transient current of 30 kA, and require no gas-tube maintenance.

Available in various polarity configurations, the maintenance-free PGT 7F series is rugged and waterproof. It is designed to operate at frequencies ranging from 0.82 to 2.2 GHz and provides 80 kA transient surge protection. It is characterized by bi-directional protection, low VSWR ranging from 1.05:1 typical to 1.15:1 maximum, high RF power, low PIM, and dc pass capability. These devices may be used for GSM, CTMA, UMTS, AMPS, PCS and GPS applications.

The SurgeGuard PGT 7F series of lightning arrestors is priced at $49 each in OEM quantities.
