PREMO Presents New Planar For Automotive Applications

April 07, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

PREMO has announced a new planar for automotive applications, which is described as a new innovative solution specially designed for the hybrid vehicle market that fulfils the AECQ-200 standard. In addition, the planar incorporates a special vacuum impregnation system that allows a high electrical isolation between primary and secondary windings.

Among what is described as its special characteristics are its power of 1700W and low profile (33mm). The product is offered with a heatsink, allowing for the easy evacuation of the heat and assures high thermal dissipation. Premo also states that it has incorporated mechanical screws fixations, improving vibration resistance according to standard regulations for the automotive market. All the materials used (ferrite, isolation, resin, glue, adhesive) withstand temperatures up to 180°C. A low loss design (<1%) is said to assure a high efficiency transformer solution.
