Panasonic Corporation and Azapa Co., Ltd. have collaborated in model-based development for automotive applications. In recent automobile development, advancement of functions and complications such as adaptation to motorization, implementation of safe driving support function, networking and the like are advanced, thorough efficiency improvement of the upstream process (design stage) of automobile development is required It is. As one of the solutions, the importance of using model-based development methods is expanding.

By using this method, the companies can model the EV's electric power train (drive unit) components, to quickly derive the power train specification that maximizes EV's electricity cost on the simulation, and can offer system proposal power to the car maker. As a result, it is expected that the development period can be drastically shortened as compared with specification derivation by conventional trial production.

Panasonic's short-term goal for its automotive business is to boost sales by more than 50% to 2 trillion yen ($17.83 billion) from fiscal 2015 to fiscal 2018. The company expects the introduction of this software to have a synergistic effect for its businesses in the long-term growth fields of lithium-ion batteries and driver-assistance technologies.

In the future, the two companies will jointly develop this development method to safety and security fields such as automatic driving technology, infotainment field, and respond to a wide range of requests from car manufacturers.

In addition, the companies will actively participate in promoting the spread of model-based development which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is promoting, and also want to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the domestic automobile industry.
