NEC Announces New V850E/CA2 Microcontroller

October 21, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

NEC Electronics Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) introduced a new 32-bit V850E/CA2™ microcontroller for high-end automotive applications. With up to four full controller area network (CAN) interfaces and a comprehensive set of peripherals, the new highly scalable microcontroller is suitable for automotive applications such as high-end body electronics, gateways and future reconfigurable dashboards.

The new controller offers a design without read-only memory and four kilobytes of embedded cache optimized for the connection of external flash memory, enabling the V850E/CA2 product to support applications such as graphics-intensive dashboards that demand large, but flexible, memory sizes. Various power-saving modes also make the V850E/CA2 microcontroller suitable for body electronics applications where low current consumption is mandatory.

The V850E/CA2 microcontroller is available in sample quantities now in a 144-pin LQFP package (20mm x 20mm). Pricing for the uPD703128GJ(A)-UEN is $6.99 in low volumes. Pricing for the uPD703129GJ(A)-UEN is $7.49 in low volumes. Pricing and availability is subject to change without notice.
